Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What’s the complementary visit for?

A: The complementary visit is so that we can talk! The relationship between a midwife and birthing person and/or family is an intimate one. Let’s see if we are a good match.

Q: What is the prenatal appointments?

A: These appointments take place in your home.  During our first visit, we will go over the midwife contract, what is included, and how to have a healthy pregnancy.

These prenatal appointments are an important key to growing a special confidence in your birth plan. They give us a chance to talk, practice, and prepare for your ideal birth (what ever that may be).

Q: On-call 24/7?

A: This “on call” period starts 2 weeks (14 days) before your estimated due date. Feel free to contact me any time you feel that you might be in labor.

Have questions or concerns before the on call period? No problem! Contact me directly during my business hours:Monday thru Friday 9AM-6PM.

Q: What is included in the full birth coverage?

A: When the time comes to meet your beautiful babe, I’ll be there for you. When you suspect that your active labor has begun, I will meet you at your homeor other birth place of your choice. This is the moment when your practice and planning come into place.

My support for you does not end after the birth of your baby. Birth coverage includes up to 2 hours of postpartum support and care. I will come and see you around 24-48 hours postpartum.

Q: What is included in the postpartum visit?

A: This visit takes place within 24-48 hours of the birth of your baby. At the postpartum visit, we will talk about your birth experience, ways to keep a strong bond between mother and baby, breastfeeding or  bottle feeding support, and your mental and physical health.

Q: How do I pay?

A: I accept cash, check, Venmo, and Paypal.

Q: Do you offer a payment plan?

A: Yes, payment plans are available. I believe that everyone should have access to the support that they need. That comes first. I have worked with a variety of budgets and can usually figure out a payment plan that works for your family.

Q: How do I book?

A: When you are ready to book, I will send you my contract via email. I can answer any questions that you may have. Once that is signed and a $1,500 deposit is paid, your place is reserved on my calendar.

“We had a water birth and thanks to Kandice it was wonderful, she never left my side always coaching me reminding me how to breathe, giving me words of encouragement. She was wonderful all together she treated my family and I like we were part of her own, thanks to her I was successful to breastfeed my little bundle of joy. Thank you, Kandice, for helping us to follow through our dream Birth plan to the last detail.”

“This was my second birth and a VBAC. I knew I wanted Kandice to be part of this journey as I was nervous for the unknown. She was amazing at helping me through all the ups and down!  She supported my husband and I in all the decisions we made during birth, as well as our initial birth plan!  Kandice also provided us with placenta encapsulation and couldn’t be happier with that service! Love Kandice and her sweet and companionate spirit she brought to my birthing experience!”

“Kandice did my placenta encapsulation and I could not be happier with her service! She went out of her way to make things easier for us. She was kind, personable and professional. Her price was incredibly reasonable as well. I know if I have questions I can contact her at any time. I will definitely be referring her to everyone I know!”

Kandice is amazing! She is so loving and respectful–if you’re looking for labor support Kandice is your girl!

“Kandice is absolutely amazing!!  After my water broke at 12:30 AM, Kandice woke up in the middle of the night and drove over 45 min to be there for me!  I don’t know how I would have done it without her. I had an unmedicated birth and Kandice knew exactly how to help with the pain and instructed my husband and showed him how to help.

“Kandice is very talented.  Her client was so trusting of her suggestions and was able to completely relax into the contractions. Her client was so pleased at her quick progress. Kandice has a knack for birth, for helping the couple get the most out of their experience.”

Loretta Schupe, RN, CPM

“My experience with Kandice was exactly what I had hoped for. She was knowledgeable and made me feel right at ease through the labor and delivery process. She was attentive and willing to come to my home in the middle of the night to offer support. Not only did she help me, but she offered guidance to my husband, helping him feel confident in his abilities to help me. The support did not stop after the delivery as she offered breastfeeding guidance and checked in the days and weeks following the birth. I would HIGHLY recommend Kandice, and wouldn’t change a thing about her time with me during labor and delivery.”
